Hello, and welcome back to The Resilient Leader. Charlotte Edwards here. This week, the topic: the adjustment zone - giving yourself time to catch up.

Change can happen fast, but just because things change quickly doesn't mean you adjust quickly. Remember, change is immediate; adjustment is not.

When things shift - new opportunities, new roles, new systems, new expectations come - we often expect ourselves to instantly operate at full capacity.

Change is an event. Adjustment is a process. Some examples might be you stepping into a new leadership role. You don't know what to do, but you'll still find your rhythm.

Your business could scale quickly. More opportunity comes, but also more pressure and increased decisions. A team member leaves or joins. There's a dynamic shift, and everything feels just a little off. You implement a new system or process. It's better long-term, but it's messy in the short term.

That in-between space is the adjustment zone. Remember, transitions require a few things we don't give ourselves: time to process, think, and recalibrate. Grace - you won't get it perfect right away. Patience - growth feels slow before it feels strong. Awareness - that's the recognition of, "I am adjusting," and allowing yourself the time.

Don't mislabel the moment. Many leaders mislabel adjustment as, "I'm not good at this. This isn't working. Maybe I made the wrong decision." When really, you're just in the middle of learning something new - the adjustment zone.

In closing thoughts, don't rush the process. Respect it. What feels uncomfortable today becomes your new capacity for tomorrow.

So this week, ask yourself a couple of questions. Where am I in an adjustment season? And then, am I giving myself the time I would give someone else to adjust? Give yourself that permission to adjust.
